Hope your week was more victorious like the second picture, but sometimes a week is just like the top picture. It feels like there is something in your way, or maybe you are just having a tough week. When this happens, I have to remember 2 Corinthians 12:9 KJV, “And He [God] said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.” When we are having a tough week, God is there, and He is still good. When we are going through health difficulties, God is there, and He is strong. When we are going through financial issues, God is there, and He is wise. God’s grace is what we need always and every day. So if you are going through difficulties, lean on God. If you are not going through difficulties, be a help to someone who is and show them your God through the way you act.
The “Hidden Lever”
This story is not fully about me, but I received permission from my friend to tell it.
Right after I graduated with my master’s, I stayed and worked at the college in the library. First off, I am a loud person by nature so I actually thought it was a joke when they assigned me to the library, but I learned to enjoy it. (I still wasn’t ever quiet.) Anyways, I made a lot of friends working in the library because I worked with a lot of people. One girl, in particular, became a close friend because we were both similar in the blonde department. 🙂 I just learned how to cover up my blondeness so people could not always tell I was blonde; she didn’t learn that part.
One day, as we were working in the library, we were all talking (when we probably should have been working). I told this friend, “The college has a basement in the library, and they put all of the student who are bad in it.” I thought surely this girl will know that there is no basement due to fact that we are in Florida, and most houses don’t have basements. She actually grew up in Florida, so I thought she would know this fact. Then I continued to tell her that there was one book in the six floors of books that if you pull on it, it acts like a lever and opens up the stairwell to the basement. I laughed and went on my way.
A week later, as I was working, she came to me and said, “Stephanie, I searched and searched for the book that would open up the basement stairwell, and I couldn’t find it. Are you sure it is in the library?” I was shocked and kind of in awe by her statement then I started dying of laughter. I finally had to tell her that there was no book and no basement.
